Koh Samui to Koh Phangan Ferry: Fastest Route to Full Moon Party
Lomprayah and Seatran Discovery run catamarans from Bangrak (Big Buddha) Pier to Thong Sala several times a day. On party day, skip the taxi entirely and take the Haad Rin Queen — it lands right on the party beach.
How it works
- 1
Get to Bangrak Pier, on Koh Samui's northeast coast near the airport and Big Buddha temple. It has three separate docks — Seatran Pier, Big Buddha Pier, and Petcherat Marina Pier — so check which one your operator uses.
- 2
Regular days: Lomprayah or Seatran Discovery catamaran to Thong Sala (Koh Phangan's main pier), then a songthaew to Haad Rin. Party day: take the Haad Rin Queen instead — it goes straight to Haad Rin Pier.
- 3
The Haad Rin Queen is a wooden double-decker doing 4 round trips a day, about 50 minutes each way, docking a short walk from Sunrise Beach — the party itself.

Tips for this route
- 90% of travelers just buy Haad Rin Queen tickets at the pier counter, but on the week of Full Moon Party, book ahead — it fills up.
- Return crossings the morning after the party are the most crowded sailings of the month — don't assume you'll walk onto the first boat back.
